Political Song Seminar

In conjunction with the exhibition Democracy for Scotland: the referendum experience, the Scottish Political Archive is holding a FREE political song seminar at the Museum of Edinburgh, the Canongate, Edinburgh

The Road to the Scottish Parliament.

Monday 12 March, 2pm – 4pm.

This workshop explores, through song, devolution and independence campaigns from the 12th century onwards, with a particular emphasis on the 20th century. It especially considers the part played by the “common people” and the Scottish tradition of political leftwing radicalism

The workshop is run by John Powles.  John Powles is Director of Giving Voice Workshops. Giving Voice seeks to stimulate and develop an understanding and appreciation of political song across all genres of song and music, nationally and internationally, current and past, from the far left to the far right.

Booking is essential for the lecture. To book contact Margaret Findlay on 0131 529 3963 or margaret.findlay@edinburgh.gov.uk
